How to Activate Your China eSIM – Step by Step

Buy Your eSIM

  • Purchase from the provider's site/app (links on our comparison page).
  • You'll receive a QR code via email or in-app immediately.

Install Before You Fly

Recommended: Do this at home with stable Wi-Fi

  • On your phone: Settings → Cellular/Mobile Data → Add eSIM.
  • Select "Use QR Code" and scan the code from your email.
  • Label the new plan "China eSIM" so you don't confuse it.

Arrive & Activate Data

  • When you land, go to Settings and tap your "China eSIM".
  • Turn ON "Data Roaming" (Crucial!).
  • Set it as your Primary source for Cellular Data.
  • Keep your home SIM for "Default Voice Line" if you want to receive SMS, but turn off its data roaming.

Test It

  • Turn off Wi-Fi and wait for the 4G/5G signal bars.
  • Open Google Maps or Instagram.
  • If it loads, congratulations! You have uncensored internet.

Troubleshooting Common Issues

No signal on arrival?

Try turning Airplane Mode on and off to reset the connection. If that fails, restart your phone.

QR code not scanning?

Use the "Enter Details Manually" option at the bottom of the scan screen. Copy the SM-DP+ Address and Activation Code from your email.
